Mobile games have really come into their own in recent years, with tons of great new games released every month. The only issue is that the Google Play Store is still a mess, so finding upcoming Android games can be an absolute nightmare.

To help, we put together this list of the 15 best upcoming Android games, in categories like adventure, action, racing, and more. Have a look and get ready to mark your calendars!

Best upcoming Android games:

Editor’s note: We’ll update this list of upcoming Android games as new games are announced and others are officially released.

1. Dauntless

Dauntless is a free-to-play co-op action RPG that’s currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The developer said the mobile version of the game is currently in the early concept phase and did not provide an exact timeframe for when it will be released.

In Dauntless, you step into the shoes of a slayer, and your job is to take down monsters knows as behemoths. You can hunt solo or team up with up to three other slayers. With every kill, you get crafting materials that you can then use to make weapons to take on even scarier monsters.

Like the console and PC versions, Dauntless on Android will likely be a free-to-play title that requires a constant internet connection.

2. League of Legends: Wild Rift

Next up is a long rumored mobile game from Riot Games. League of Legends: Wild Rift was announced alongside a number of new releases during the ten year anniversary celebration of League of Legends. It features the same 5v5 MOBA gameplay as its PC counterpart, with adjustments to make it more mobile-friendly.

Those adjustments required rebuilding the game from scratch, so not all champions will be available at launch. About 40 champions will be available at launch, but many will have their abilities tweaked. Match times will also be cut down to 15-18 minutes.

League of Legends is currently one of the most popular games in the world, making Wild Rift one of the most anticipated upcoming Android games around. After a few months of alpha testing, it will enter open regional beta in December. For now there’s no date on North American testing, but users in Europe and several other regions will gain access on December 10.

3. Plants vs. Zombies 3

A new game in the Plants vs. Zombies series is coming to Android. It’s called Plants vs. Zombies 3, and it’s already soft launched in certain regions around the world. Unlike previous titles, this one is likely to be portrait in order to enable more mobile-friendly one-handed play.

If you somehow have never heard of it, Plants vs. Zombies is basically an action-strategy game in which you take on big and bad zombies with your army of plants, each of which has its own unique offensive or defensive capabilities. PvZ 3 will abandon the iconic 2D graphics for full 3D models, but it will maintain the same overall aesthetic.

There’s no word on when the game will officially be released, but we do know it will be a free-to-play title with microtransactions.

4. The Witcher: Monster Slayer

Fan-favorite series The Witcher got a hit Netflix show earlier this year, and now it’s time for a brand new mobile game. The title being developed by Spokko, which CD Projekt purchased two years ago specifically to work on a new mobile game.

We now know that the game will put you in the shoes of an early Witcher (hundreds of years before Geralt of Rivia) to travel around the real world hunting monsters. That’s right, The Witcher is getting the Pokémon Go treatment.

The game promises console-quality visuals and a robust crafting system to make potions, traps, and more. As of now there is no confirmed release date, but you can learn more at the official website linked below.

5. Summoners War: Chronicles

Summoners War was one of the first mobile games to achieve enormous popularity, and this upcoming Android and iOS game will let you relive the excitement in a brand new way. Even if you’ve long moved on to other games, it holds a special place in many people’s hearts as their first mobile game addiction.

Summoners War: Chronicles is a real-time MMORPG that takes place 70 years before the events of the original game. In it, players can select teams of three characters, each of which can summon three monsters. These summoned armies take on massive bosses with the help of other players around the world.

This is just the first game in Com2Us’ efforts to expand the Summoners War universe, so expect to hear about more games soon. As for a release date, we know it will be some time in late 2020, but no further details have been released.

6. NieR Re[in]carnation

New mobile games in an established console or PC series are often dumbed-down versions that straddle the line between game and slot machine, but Nier Re[in]carnation seeks to buck that trend.

Although it is developed by a mobile-focused developer, the game will be produced by Yosuke Saito and directed by Yoko Taro, just like the hit titles NieR Automata and its prequel NieR. The two have stated that the game doesn’t feel like a smartphone game, and the goal is not to cash in on the brand but rather create something interesting.

The trailer above shows an absolutely gorgeous game that seems to be more about platforming and exploration than action. No release details have been given, but we’re keeping a close eye on this one.

7. Pokémon Unite

One of the last things fans expected from the June 24 Pokémon Presents was a Pokémon mobile MOBA game, but that’s just what they got in Pokémon Unite. The game lets you take direct control of some of your favorite Pokémon in a 5vs5 arena battle.

The standard MOBA formula has been somewhat adapted for Pokémon, with gameplay that favors capturing wild Pokémon and depositing them in certain zones to get points. There are two lanes instead of three and no turrets, but apart from that gameplay appears very similar to popular MOBAS like League of Legends or Dota 2.

The game is being developed by Tencent’s heavy-hitter team at Timi studios, which as previously worked on two of the most popular games around: PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile. We still don’t have a release date, but we should be hearing more about Pokémon Unite soon.

8. Warhammer: Odyssey

Fans of the long-time wargaming series Warhammer Age of Sigmar should get excited about this upcoming Android game. Set in the Old World, it’s an MMORPG that allows players to explore some of the most iconic locations in Warhammer lore.

Fight off agents of Chaos as an Archmage, Warrior Priest, Engineer, Shadow Warrior, Slayer, or Witch Hunter. It’s still fairly early in development, but you can pre-register on the official website to stay up to date with the latest news.

9. Apex Legends

While news about a mobile version of Apex Legends is few and far between, we know for sure that Respawn Entertainment’s hit battle royale title is coming to mobile devices soon. Shortly after the game’s release, devs confirmed that a mobile version is in the works.

Unfortunately, we’ve heard little about it since then. We may hear more about the mobile launch at some time in the near future, but at this point, it’s unclear when exactly the game will be released. Even so, another big mobile battle royale title to compete with PUBG Mobile and Fortnite is something to look forward to.

10. Pokémon Sleep

Although this is the second Pokémon title on this list of upcoming Android games, it was announced far earlier. Pokémon Sleep was first announced way back in May of 2019, although there’s been little news since.

Still, new games in the Pokémon franchise are always something to look out for, and this one takes a completely unique approach. Instead of actively exploring to catch ’em all, Pokémon Sleep is designed to turn “sleeping into entertainment” by tracking your sleeping patterns.

It’s not entirely clear how this will work, but Pokémon Go successfully turned walking into entertainment, so who knows. Stay tuned for more details on this one some time in 2020.

11. H1Z1

H1Z1 is a battle royale game, similar to PUBG and Fortnite. You jump out of an airplane with up to 150 other players and start looking for guns, ammo, and other supplies once you land. Then it’s time to go on the hunt and take down as many opponents as possible. The last one standing wins.

The playzone gets smaller and smaller throughout the game, bringing players closer together and making sure you’re always on your toes. Just like in PUBG, there are vehicles available so you can get from place to place faster. You can play solo or team up with one or even four other players.

H1Z1 isn’t as popular as PUBG or Fortnite, but it still has millions of devoted fans. It’s free to play and available on PS4 and PC. The company has confirmed a mobile version is in the works, but there are no details on when it’s coming.

12. Project Cars GO

Project Cars, a popular racing game on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, is getting a mobile spin-off. Called Project Cars GO, it will come with loads of exotic cars and tons of customization options, just like the PC and console versions.

Project Cars is known for an authentic racing experience, and the mobile version promises just that. The game has sold over two million copies worldwide so far and is one of the best of its kind.

Gamevil and Slightly Mad Studios are developing the game, but there’s no word on the release date. Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell said racing fans will be “stomping the gas pedal and burning rubber very soon,” which makes us think it won’t be long until Project Cars GO makes its debut. When it does, it will give all the other titles on our list of best upcoming Android games a run for their money.

13. Diablo Immortal

Back in November 2018, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced it’s working on Diablo Immortal, its second mobile game. The title is being developed from the ground up, so it’s not a port of a previous Diablo PC or console game.

The storyline takes place between the events of Diablo II and III. The Archangel Tyrael is believed to be dead, while the Worldstone has been shattered into various fragments. Those Worldstone segments are the source of new and ancient evil creatures who want to use the stone’s power to take over the land.

The game lets you choose from six classes (Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, Demon Hunter, and Necromancer), with each one having a set of at least 12 skills. You’ll be able to explore and fight in nine outdoors areas and will come across a lot of creatures never seen before in a Diablo title. The game is already listed on the Play Store, but an official release date has not been announced yet.

14. Path of Exile Mobile

Path of Exile was first released back in 2013, but constant updates and attention from developer Grinding Gear Games has kept the game relevant and popular all these years later. Now, a mobile version is one the way, and it’s looking to be an extremely faithful adaptation.

Does Android Have Game Pigeon

In the official trailer above, it’s revealed that the game is being developed in-house (with some delicious shade being thrown at PoE’s main competitor Diablo’s upcoming mobile title), which should mean that core gameplay elements remain intact. That said, there’s a reason why developers rely on studios with more mobile development experience, so don’t expect PoE Mobile to have a smooth and efficient development period.

For now, Path of Exile Mobile is still listed as an “experimental” title, so it’s entirely possible that it never sees an official release date. Stay tuned for more news on this one.

15. Impossible Bottles

Impossible Bottles is described as a rhythm game. You take on the role of a genius inventor who wants to provide an endless source of energy to the world with the help of his machines — from tiny robots to enormous golems.

To get the job done, you have to power the robots by firing streams of electricity in sync with the music. You can check out what this looks like by clicking here. But be careful: even a small mistake regarding the musical rhythm could create a global blackout and destroy the robots. The game features 10 hand-drawn robots, easy single-tap gameplay, and original electronic tracks to go along with each machine.

Impossible Bottles was initially scheduled for release in summer 2019, but it appears to have been delayed. There are no details on whether it will be a free-to-play title or not.
